Little Queen
Found on a street so appropriately named.
I actually did get my 7 last week, but forgot to upload the last one. Not looking so great this week though.
I'll get there one day!

Glimmer of light
Yeah, I've been a bit slack with writing something to go with these photos.
I guess that's one of the disadvantages with taking quick snapshots - they're meant to be quick and typing takes a while.
Still trying to get back to a seven day week. Hopefully there will be more on the weekends to make up for the grind during week days

Coffee
Well, it's here now so hopefully there will be a lot more photos from me this time around.

Space - One
Okay, dramatic FAIL for the week before last!
What happened? What's my excuse?
Well, I got a bit lazy. So what happened to this week just ending then? I ended up in Brisbane. I did take a lot of shots, which will likely end up on my site rather than here.
Shall we try again? This upcoming week's theme shall be... Fonts.

Shooting Through Things - Six
This one would be better suited for a lines theme... but I threw it in anyway.
Technically I'm shooting through stairs, right??
Shooting Through Things - Seven
And this was scraping the bottom of the barrel.
But I wanted to get seven photos in at least.
Quite a disappointing week. I hope I do better this time around, although it looks to be a busy one.
So... Next week's theme? *cue dramatic IRON CHEF music, smoke and camera zoom!* Space.
Shooting Through Things - Five
I love pictures that tell a bit of a story.
Even if it's just a little story.
Shooting Through Things - Four
A so-so shot that could've been made so much better with a little thought.
Maybe next time.
Shooting Through Things - Three
I messed up this window for this shot. Don't be stealing my prints now!
(In case you can't see, the focus is on a fingerprint on a window I'm shooting through.)
Shooting Through Things - Two
It's actually quite strange to shoot through a magnifying glass as the focus changes when you move the glass also.
I love how the edge of the glass sort of melts away.
Shooting Through Things - One
Hard week this one. Got a few nice ones, but mostly duds. Like this one.
It's a wind chime at my parents' place. Didn't really think it through too well.
Reminds me of something I read on someone's blog: "There are no bad photographers, just lazy ones." Don't know whether I agree with it in general, but laziness certainly killed off this shot.

Desaturated - Seven
I wanted him to stand out subtly by desatching everything else slightly but without the tell-tale selective colouring.
--
So ends this week. It's been a busy one as I've been processing photos from Smash (see my set on flickr - http://www.flickr.com/photos/mukimu/sets/72157624554510633/) and I also went out to the Glebe tram shed with a set of brollies and a cute model. The theme has been a good learning experience, especially in colour correction. They're not top-notch photos, but none of the Seven in Sydney collection are meant to be.
I was sort of afraid I wouldn't have much to use for this week's theme, but it seems it all worked out nicely.
So, next week? Shooting through stuff.
Desaturated - Six
I actually didn't end up desaturating this one. Apart from a white balance, the colours are as is.
Desaturated - Four
Another green-bathed shot. The ambient is going to the magenta side of things.
I can't quite figure out how to get skin tone right, so I've sort of cheated and desatched it.
Desaturated - Three
There's that pale green overcast that I haven't been able to get rid of, but what you can't see is that the original was completed washed out in green. Those light bulbs are actually all green.
The sign is also green, which is a bit of a tricky task for colour correction.
This isn't perfect, but I'm pretty happy with where it ended up given the original.
Desaturated - Two
My DSLR brings up red really well. So much so that it's almost painful to the eyes.

Close, but no cigar!
I did consider that the mobility theme might be a bit hard also. So I'm going to try something easier this week: Desaturation.
It's more of a post-processing thing, but I think I need practice in that area too.

Texture - Seven
Jess' mat, covered in dog fur. It needs a bit of a vacuum!
So end this week. I loaned out my camera, so I didn't have Sunday to shoot. In fact, I almost completely forgot I was meant to be shooting this week.
It wasn't until Thursday or Friday afternoon that I remembered while looking at something and thought it would be a good thing to shoot for the theme.
So now I need to think of a new theme... Mobility.
Texture - Six
This is actually a metal suitcase I have. Didn't think it would turn out like this with the right light.
Texture - One
Bit of a let-down this week.
It would have been a prime topic for macros, but unfortunately I don't have one (one of the things on my wishlist is the new EF 100mm 2.8L).
This here is my couch!

Camera Gear - Seven
Providing the lighting for all of these shots is my old 430EX flash.
They don't make these anymore, but they're a hardy little thing.
So that ends this week! On a Saturday no less!
Good fun experimenting with paper to get that seamless effect.
And so next week's theme is... Texture.
Camera Gear - Five
This is by far my workhorse lens.
The hood on this (not pictured) is deep and Canon for some reason never thought to provide a centre-pinch cap, so I use the Sigma one.
Yes, that's my dining table.
Camera Gear - Three
Cactus V4 transmitter. Can't say I recommend these very much. Perhaps I got a bad set, but they are as flakey as a flakey thing that doesn't work much of the time.
Camera Gear - Two
Whoops. Left my cap on upside down!
I've mentioned this elsewhere, but my Sigma end cap is randomly on another lens, and its centre-pinch sits on another lens more suited for it.
